Spanish Congress approves study

The Sanity and Consume Commission unanimously approved today a study proposed by the Parliamentary Social Group, which will focus on gambling addiction in Spain, a problem that, according to the Spanish Federation for Recovered Gambling Addicts (FEJAR), affects almost a 2% of Spaniards.

According to the Socialist Congresswoman, Elvira Cortajerena, gambling addicts are mostly men despite slot addiction is huge and they are regularly played by women, which sum 33% of the addicts.

According to recent studies, Spaniards bet 720 euros per capita, per year.

The results also showed that the average age of the addicts is rapidly lowering. 37% of the addicts are between 18 and 30 years old and only 33% are between 30 and 45 years old.

The approved study aims to the prevention of new gambling addicts and the treatment of those who are already having gambling addiction problems.
