Esperanza Aguirre, Director of Madrid’s Treasury Office, does not have in mind the authorization to include slot machines in bars or hotels. This decision opposes the initial drafts for the new regulation for the Madrilenian Commune. The drafts were going to allow slot machines in bars and hotels and a maximum 500€ bet.

“We are at the first stages in the meetings with the industry companies, but we think that the entrance of slot machines in bars and hotels is not going to be feasible. Not to mention the maximum 500€ bet, this has been ruled out since the first proposition. It was just one idea in a very large group of ideas”, said Hidalgo.

Although they are not going to give permissions to bars and hotels, the Treasury Office has not ruled out the possibility to grant permissions to specially conditioned facilities like in other countries.
